Tesla Opens Two New Northern B.C. Superchargers in 48 Hours
Vanderhoof and Terrace Superchargers go live on Highway 16, adding V4 stalls with 325 kW peak and $0.24/kWh Tesla pricing. The corridor build toward Prince Rupert continues.
Tesla has opened two new Supercharger stations in northern British Columbia in less than 48 hours, extending its Highway 16 corridor between Prince George and the coast. Vanderhoof went live on Monday, September 21, followed by Terrace on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
Vanderhoof — four V4 stalls at Four Rivers Co-op
The Vanderhoof station sits at Four Rivers Co-op Food Store, 188 East Stewart Street East. Construction began in February 2026 and the site now shows four V4 stalls capable of up to 325 kW. Tesla owners pay $0.24/kWh and non-Tesla drivers pay $0.32/kWh.
Vanderhoof lies about 100 km west of Prince George and is the first major community on Highway 16 toward the coast, making it a critical stop for drivers heading to Alaska, Prince Rupert or the north coast.
Terrace — eight V4 stalls at Skeena Mall
Terrace opened at Skeena Mall, 4741 Lakelse Avenue, with eight V4 stalls. Construction began in February 2026. Pricing mirrors Vanderhoof: $0.24/kWh for Tesla, $0.32/kWh for others, with a peak rate of up to 325 kW per stall.
The station fills a nearly 500 km gap that previously required reliance on Level 2 charging or slower DC fast chargers. Drive Tesla Canada notes the combined openings leave Prince Rupert as the next logical activation, where Tesla has another site waiting to be energized.
Corridor status
- Prince George → Vanderhoof: ~100 km, now covered
- Vanderhoof → Terrace: ~185 km, now covered
- Terrace → Prince Rupert: ~300 km, station under preparation
Completing the Prince George–Prince Rupert link will create a roughly 720 km chain through remote communities with V4 service every 100–185 km. Full build-out will reduce winter range anxiety and enable reliable electric travel on BC’s northern highway.
